Title VI Compliance
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a Federal law that protects individuals from discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in any program or activity that receives Federal funds or other Federal financial assistance. The City of Lewiston is committed to complying with Title VI and has adopted a Title VI Policy (PDF), which includes a discrimination complaint procedure.
In addition to complying with Title VI, the City of Lewiston adopted Ordinance Number 4614 (PDF) in 2014, which ordinance prohibits discrimination based on an individual’s actual or perceived race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, creed, sex, age, marital or familial status, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity/expression.
