Solicitor

"Solicitor" means any individual, whether a resident of the city or not, who travels by foot, wagon, automobile, motor truck or any other type of conveyance; who goes from place to place, from house to house, or from street to street; and, who takes or attempts to take orders for the sale of the following of any nature for future delivery:

  • Goods
  • Merchandise
  • Personal Property
  • Personal Services
  • Wares

"Peddler" means the same, except that the offering for sale of goods or services is immediate.

Timeline

Due to fingerprinting, a license review takes approximately 3 to 6 weeks. Fingerprint cards are given at the time of payment and are provided by the Lewiston Police Department on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between the hours of 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Completed fingerprint cards and a valid photo ID card or driver’s license must accompany the application.
