Current Board/Commission Openings

Volunteers who serve on the City of Lewiston's Advisory Boards and Commissions play an important role in developing and sustaining our community.

Through participation in a board, committee, or commission, Lewiston residents can become involved in their local government, provide input, and make recommendations to the Lewiston City Council.

Application Process

If there are openings, the application link will be posted below under 'Current Openings' by the City Clerk.

Once you submit your application, please check your email for the confirmation receipt. If you do not receive one, or have questions about the application process, please contact:
City Clerk Tanya Brocke
208-746-3671 x 6202.

The City Clerk will keep you updated on next steps throughout the selection and appointment process.

Selection Process

  • For most vacancies, interviews are conducted by a working group consisting of city councilors, board members and its staff liaison.
  • The working group makes a recommendation to the Mayor for an appointment to fill the vacancy.
  • At a City Council meeting, the Mayor may appoint the applicant subject to a two-thirds (⅔) vote of the city councilors present at the meeting.
  • Once the appointments are made, the City Clerk notifies applicants of the decision.
