In September of 2019, the Tsceminicum Club Idaho & Local History Room in the Lewiston City Library opened to the public. In honor of the anniversary of the grand opening, each month starting in September a display of books will showcase a different genre section located within the room. Beginning with the “Genealogy” items available for checking out will be displayed on a table in the first floor fiction area with the hope that new interests in local history and genealogy will be piqued!
Besides books available for checking out in the Tsceminicum Club Idaho and Local History Room, there are also special reference items which can be pursued only while in the library. Items which must remain in the library have a yellow label on them or are located on shelves which read “Reference/non-circulating.” Items which can be checked out have a white label on the spine. Please ask a member of staff if you have any questions.
The Tsceminicum Club Idaho and Local History Room also boasts its own computer from which Ancestry: Library Edition can be accessed. Instructions for how to do so are located on the room’s antique table which is from Lewiston’s original Carnegie Library. Volunteers from Twin River Genealogy can be found in the room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1pm until 3pm to help answer any questions regarding family history searches. Start your voyage of local and family history discovery today at the Tsceminicum Club Idaho and Local History Room!
