4. How do I report a missing person?

If it is an emergency, call 911. If it is not an emergency, call the Police Department at 208-746-0171 and explain the situation.

5. I am getting scam calls. What should I do?

Do not give any caller any personal or financial information or confirm any information they already have, not even your name. If they are legitimate they should already have your information. If you did not contact them or already do business with them it is recommended that you hang up on them and call them back through a known phone number published in the phonebook or other directory. If they continue to call check with your phone company regarding call blocking features. You can screen your calls as well using caller ID functions on your phone. 

Personal Information

If you have provided personal financial information and believe you are being defrauded or had your identity stolen, you should contact all of the involved financial institutions and have your accounts blocked, frozen or closed and follow their instructions on how to address the issues. If you have incurred a financial loss or had your identity used fraudulently call the Police Department at 208-746-0171 and explain your situation.

6. I need to evict someone what do I do?

Call the City of Lewiston Community Development Department at 208-746-1318.

7. What can I do about dirt bikes & ATVs being ridden in my neighborhood?

Some vehicles of this type are legal to operate on the street. Please call the Police Department at 208-746-0171 when this occurring.

8. What can I do if I think my identity has been stolen (identity theft)?

Call your bank or financial institution that handles the account(s) in question. Explain the situation to them on what has occurred follow their instructions regarding their account. Call every financial institution and credit card company you have an account with, as well as the credit bureaus and explain that you believe your identity may have been stolen and ask them what steps to take. If you believe your wallet, identification or credit cards or mail has been stolen from you, call the Police Department at 208-746-0171.

9. What can I do if my neighbor is always playing loud music/being noisy?

If this is going on right now and you would like an officer to respond please call 208-746-0171 and explain the situation. Lewiston City Code states in Section 24-38: Noise or excessive or unnecessary sound prohibited. (a) No person shall make any noise(s) or excessive or unnecessary sound(s) which disturbs, injures or endangers the comfort, convenience, repose, health, peace, safety and welfare of any other person or persons or of any residential neighborhood within the limits of the city of Lewiston. If you want to make a formal complaint please call the Lewiston Police Department.

10. What do I do about annoying/threatening phone calls?

If an emergency or a crime is in progress, call 911 immediately. For all other situations, call the Police Department at 208-746-0171 and explain your particular situation. If your situation warrants a report an officer will be assigned to contact you. If the incident is less serious you can consider installing call blocking on your phone, caller ID on your phone or screening your calls.
